If you are searching the web looking for a Great Pyrenees Puppy  and have found 'Sunny South Great Pyrenees'  and Sam Holmes then you can stop and look no further. To have one of her puppies is to be blessed with abundant, unconditional love and a constant source of pure entertainment and joy!!!  It will be two years ago Oct. 20th that I came across Sam's website "Sunny South Great Pyrenees" while searching for a second pry. puppy to give to my husband as a retirement present. I talked to many a breeder in and out of Texas, in addition to members of the American Great Pyrenees Association,  before talking to Sam, but once I connected with Sam that was it for me. I was hooked and as luck would have it her "Duchess" had just given birth to a litter just two days before and she had one all white male puppy. Exactly  what my husband wanted!!!

And then there is Sam sweet, wonderful Sam. In my lifetime I had never looked on the Internet or bought a puppy long distance. To say I was a tad bit nervous about not picking a puppy out after watching him interact in a litter in person was an understatement. I had a ton of questions for Sam and she patiently answered each and everyone and repeated herself as I repeated questions. Additionally, Sam went way beyond answering my questions, she sent me an update on Bentley weekly, sent photos, and shared wonderful anecdotal moments about Bentley  enabling us to see his developing personality  through her eyes  and through the photos she e-mailed. By the time we drove from Texas to Alabama to pick him up, we already knew and loved Bentley. We weren't at all disappointed when we held him for the first time. It was love at first sight  for both my huisband and I, and almost two years later, he is continues to be our  family's constant, continual source of unconditional love, joy and entertainment!

I wanted a well bred, Great Pyrenees Puppy who came from a loving, responsible breeder who truly loved and cared for her dogs and they loved her in return.Sam Holmes is all of that and so much more.Sam's dogs are wonderfully taken care of, loved, and well socialized. Did I mention how beautiful and healthy her dogs and puppies are?  Her farm in Alabama is beautiful. What a wonderful place for a puppy to start out in life!!  Our Vet here at home can't say enough  that is good and positive about Bentley's health, his genetics, his temperment and his personality. The list goes on and on. No negatives  at all !!

To meet Bentley is to fall in love with him there is not a person in our neighborhood who doesn't know him by name. And kids, they all love him and frequently will knock on our door to see if he can come out to play. He's not too fond of baths though. Its mud he loves!!!!  He's great with kids, and well socialized  with our female Pyr and Springer Spaniel and two cats  and all of our extended family's dogs and pets. We don't have a farm so our Pyrs. are companion dogs and complete, total members of our family !   Bentley is large at 149 lbs.and absolutely beautiful it was a hard decision to have him neutered. But knowing we would end up with herd of Pryenees puppies or would have to have visitation rights, we finally decided it was the wise and responsible thing to do.

I can think of no better way to show how incredibly awesome we think Bentley is other than through photos of him. Please feel free to contact me though e-mail................Cathie O. @ FOURCRAZYPETS4@SBCGLOBAL.NET

There are dogs and there are dogs, and then there are Great Pyrenees.

Some five years ago our Australian Shepherd died and we were thinking about getting a German Shepherd. Our vet, and fellow Sunday School class member, Dr. Matt Holmes suggested that we take a look at some of the Great Pyrenees pups he had from Duchess and sired by Bandit. It was their first litter We were not familiar with the breed, but agreed to take a look. I also agreed to take some photos of the pups to put on the internet.

When we arrived there were some ten or 12 bundles of white, and white and brown, fluff running all over the place and they told us we had the pick of the litter. It was worse than eating potato chips -- it was extremely
difficult to choose just one. We finally narrowed it down to two -- Fat Boy and Rambler. Fat Boy had the brown badger marking and Rambler was solid white. We choose Rambler because he seemed to be a little different in some ways.

After a couple of weeks we were able to bring him home, and I swear we had more trouble naming that dog than we did our children. He was so different from other dogs and had so many different looks and moods that nothing seemed to fit exactly. We finally settled on Monte because he was a French mountain dog with a royal history.

He was a lap dog for a couple of weeks, and as soon as he was fully grown, he became a lap dog again -- now he just straddles a lap as long as he is getting brushed or petted. As a pup he hopped like a rabbit, looked like a polar bear cub, turned forward somersaults and acted more like a cat than a dog at times.

As an adult he has become a member of the family. He sleeps on a porch a few feet from our bed, and we do not have to worry about any one or anything coming to our country home without us knowing about it. As sweet and gentle as he is with us, he is very protective. We do have to be careful in introducing him to strangers -- especially children. The only time he has been sick is from the tainted Chinese dog food, and Dr. Matt took care of that one night.

Dr. Matt and Sam continued to breed their dogs and from all reports I have heard, had many satisfied buyers in addition to us. Following Dr. Matt's untimely death, Sam has continued to raise horses and Great Pyrenees with
the same care and honesty in dealing with buyers.

Anyone looking for a big working dog -- Monte weighs about 100 pounds --could not find a better pet, friend and protector. And it would be difficult to find a better place to get one than from Sam Holmes.

We had a great experience getting our pup from Sam. She provided us with all requested preliminary info like photos of the parents and their pedigrees. We received updates when puppies were born as well as photos as they were growing. Shipment went smooth, easy and on time for us and most importantly for the puppy.

Thank you Sam!!!

We purchased 2 male Pyr pups, Max and Mo, from Sam in 2004. We were so happy with them that we returned to Sam in 2006 and purchased a girl, Mello. Max, Mo and Mellow continue to delight us each day. They are strong, healthy Pyrs with the best temperament possible. They actually earn their keep on our farm as they protect and watch over our growing herd of 30+ alpacas. They are lovely, magnificent giants who rule at the barn and in the pastures. Because they are such diligent protectors of the herd, we are able to actually sleep at night, knowing they are on patrol, ensuring that nothing gets in the pastures to do harm. Even though they are such staunch protectors, they are the most accommodating, gentle creatures around humans. Our vet says that in his 25+ years of practice, he has yet to have a Pyr even wrinkle its nose at him! Max, Mo and Mello are no exception. They love people and family and are a hit with visitors to our farm. Their quiet, calm, gentle nature and soft fluffy coats are irresistible. Our lives would certainly not be complete without them.

My wife and I purchased a female pyrennes in December of 2006. Her name is Chloe, and she has turned out to be one of the greatest joys of our family. Chloe is sound in both temperament and body structure. In addition, we found the Holmes to be of high quality, both as responsible breeders and as friends. We highly recommend their puppies
